Going to therapy is a personal choice.
If you are experiencing issues that cause impairment, dysfunction, physical and/or emotional fatigue, extreme sadness, severe anger, failed relationships, low self-esteem or excessive stress in your life, you could benefit from therapy.
If your child is excessively angry, moody, sad, has no friends, appears fearful, impulsive, hyperactive, has bedwetting or other toileting issues or is preoccupied with physical appearance or sexual issues and these issues are causing impairment in one or more aspects of his or her life, then therapy might be beneficial.
Again, therapy is a personal choice that typically requires a good deal of thought before making the phone call. However, it can potentially improve your life and the lives of those you love.

A Word About Stigma:
Stigma- "a mark of shame or discredit"-Merriam Webster's online dictionary.
Mental health related stigma consists of shame, guilt, inferiority and weakness associated with having a mental health issue. It can prevent people from seeking mental health services thereby blocking access to effective help and numerous needed resources.
Breaking the Stigma Barrier:
Good health, be it mental or physical is a lifelong goal for most. Depression, anxiety and other mental health issues can be equally as devastating as medical problems. Yet because of mental health stigma, people often feel embarrassed about seeking mental health services. My goal is to help you realize that pursuing mental health services is a healthy option. Good utilization of mental health care resources can treat the stress and emotional pain that can exacerbate medical problems.
